Blackhawk Set Help?

I'm having difficulty pricing a set of Blackhawk revolvers -

2 matching s/n 44Mag and 357Mag Blackhawks with the SR-logo display case.
Obviously the package is collector-worthy, & includes the original order/shipper letter.
And the matched 50th anniversary set ain't never gonna happen again.

What say ye ?
1. Asking price you've seen IRL?
2. What (minimum) would you let yours go for?

Anyone know how many matched, cased sets were born?

New those sets sold a bit over 800.00. Today's price is 1000.00 1200.00. How many sets made not sure but my wife collected all those 50 year guns and may know. I do know she has two sets.

Those sets are bringing barely what they cost originally I am sad to say...not much interest in them at ALL...same as a regular new model Blackhawk and there are too many new models in the used market right now...

Mass produced commemoratives and special editions don't fair well.

Not sure they'll bring $800 for a pair here.

If a guy wants a new model single action as a shooter they're a pretty good value though.

Ruger direct price was $1004 in 2008 (employee-transfer dealer direct printout) for matched s/ns with the display case. That is $1206 today, or else the value has gone down?
I doubt that. Even for non-engraved FT shooters.

But it is true some Ruger guns go down in adjusted value. I've had a few... The anniversary Standard 22s come to mind...

Set on gunbroker right now. Opening bid at 1000.00 with no bids. I know dealer cost was 800 something when they came out.

Well, you guys have helped me make a decision. I was hoping for better news.
My anniversary editions are
S/N 701 - 357
701 - 44
S/N 702 - 357
702 - 44
And I don't have the cases. With no demand they go to the back of the safe for cold storage.

Saw a set of (turned) 50th anniversary blackhawks, display case included, sell for $1200 this weekend at the Prescott Valley gunshow.
I believe they're still solid $550 guns plus the SR-logo case, irregardless of the engraving.
Guess matching s/n's don't add anything.Might gift them, but what is a gift that cannot be used?

Should all Rugers go down in value?

I think the entire gun market is very soft right now with our 2A comfort zone--thank you Mr. Trump!! My opinion would be the first $1000 takes it, but I dont know how bad you need the coin for your medical bills. Otherwise wait it out a year or two for the value to come back in your favor.

trapperon, you bring up a good point about the comfort zone but November and anxiety could go hand in hand.

yes, exactly! and 2 years out it will be total anxiety with the presidential election! That really drives semi autos and magazine sales, byt typically revolvers and guns in general will experience a higher demand driving prices up.
Now is the time to BUY guns magazines and ammo thats for sure!

Ill admit to not letting presidential speculation drive my firearms purchases. Afterall, I cannot buy enough ammo and guns to supply my kids, grandkids, and the next few generations, even if they will still be able to own guns and ammunition.

So what logic is everyone using there? I hear the same "chicken little logic" from otherwise smart, wise gun owners in my travels.
To me it is not logic at all. More like political submission...
Today is the only day that matters. Tomorrow is not guaranteed.

sorry to say, same around here most of the Ruger anniversary models are not that much higher in value these days, like said above when they closed that model out, made up "matching sets" they went for the $895 price with the double gun presentation case, I think CDNN or some such had the best prices...BUT that being said, to me, they are still in the $500-600 range for each gun and the case in the $150-200 range...………..I'd put them out on the table higher, ( run them up the flagpole and see who salutes) never know , you can always come down...……..these days we've sold some of them as shooters they are a NICE fell and balance, and look what "retail" is of current models...….. 8) :roll: :wink:
