black sr9c

Getting ready to order my sr9c. I prefer the black sr9c over the stainless model. How is the black holding up in terms of wear and tear.

its gonna depend on how everyone handles it, some will throw it in a pocket that may have other stuff in it, some will scratch it with cheap plastic holsters some will baby the heck out of it.
personally mine is either in a gun case with my other 9mm or in my leather owb holster and there isnt a single scratch on it. some have had issues with the black around the barrel hole chipping on the front of the slide.

Mine has actually been more resilient than I expected. My former SR9 and SR9c are both black slides. I don't have any scratches or chips in my coating and my SR9 was in and out of kydex, leather, and nylon holsters a lot. I definitely prefer it over the polished.

Thanks for your incite I prefer the black over the stainless too. I will be holstering it, but it will be my only hand gun so it will see plenty of use. I would hate for the black finish to come off. If anyone does have wear on the black slide could they post some pictures. Bassproshop only had the sr9 in stainless when I looked yesterday, and you could see all the fine scratch/machining marks in the slide. I wonder if this is how the black wears as well and if it is more or less noticeable. Also I live in arizona so it is sunny any problems aquiring targets with the sun hitting the stainless.

I have the black version. Use 2 Don Hume leather holsters, depending on clothing. Both holsters are tight, but the pistols shows no marks anywhere.

I prefer the appearance of the black over the stainless.

I have the black version. Never abused it. Never even carried the weapon. 99% of the time it sat in the bedroom. After a day at the range my neighbor noted that there was a chip in the paint on the slide between the barrel and recoil spring. The gun only had about 150 rounds through it and I did not consider it even broken in. Ruger took care of the problem, but I would have prefered that it never chipped to start out with!
