Bipod Attachment

I got a ruger tactical op-1 bipod for my ruger american and I'm the swivel stud adapter is mis-aligning with the swivel stud.

Can the swivel be adjusted by turning it? is it threaded?

Perhaps looking at the parts schematic which came with the gun will offer a clue. If not, someone at Ruger should be able to tell you.

The front swivel stud on my American Centerfire is threaded into a plastic boss molded into the forearm, not a separate nut. It will unthread but mine is at a proper 90º to the stock when fully tightened. If you have to loosen your stud a bit to align it properly you should be OK but be careful of tightening it much more than it is.

You could, of course, grind or cut off the plastic boss and install a swivel stud with a separate nut.
