BFR's?

I know they're not a Ruger but since the grip frame is made by Ruger, and it has the same transfer bar and the plow handle grips from a Super Blackhawk has interchangeability with the BFR, I'd like to see a sub folder on the BFR line of firearms.

Or, am I talking heresy?

I did not say the grip frames were interchangeable I said the grips, unless I read my writing wrong which I do on occasion.

Funny, I have a set of Ruger grips on my BFR. Maybe not ALL but I tried a few that do.

What is it on this forum recently? Everyone wants to argue or prove someone else is wrong.

These Super Blackhawk "plow handle" grips fit PERFECTLY.

I was not trying to prove you wrong or argue. I had never heard that before so I looked it up. Obviously I also misread your statement about GRIPS not grip frames, so my error on that.
I was completely unaware that BFR group frames are made by Ruger. Even though I am really hesitant to this up, from what I read they are made by Magnum Research.

The gripframes "were" made by Pine Tree Castings, the investment casting firm a Ruger subsidiary. Who makes them now? Probably Pine Tree.

A subfolder? I think it's a brilliant idea. Call it "The Big Bore Single-Actions" or "The Super Magnum SA Revolvers." It would be the go-to place for the guys who look at a .44 Magnum and think, "That's a good start."

Well, for what its worth, I have a Mag. Research BFR { .38/357 } single action, and happy with the grips and the gun as it is.

They are far better than the "rubber" grips it came with, these fit my hand, and my hand doesn't have an eye so it can't see them

As a grip maker,, you know very well the fit if a gun starts with the grips. If those big, ugly oversized, plain looking things fit his hands,, aww heck,, let him enjoy them.

Hello contender. As I said, it is his gun. But, he should look for a nice flap holster for it to protect other peoples eyes.

Now now guys,, we all have our opinions.

gnappi,, you may well understand Cary a bit more if you could see some of the exquisite, stunningly beautiful artwork in grips he built. His selection of woods, the matching of the grains & such,, were some of the finest I've ever seen.

And Cary,, you know all too well how different hand sizes are. Big hands when combined with "normal" sized grips just cause frustration. When a guy like that finds something that fits,, they find a beauty in that alone.

Yeah I get it... I suspect that rubber grips would be anathema to a craftsman

PS, I wear a medium size glove and like hand filling grips on harder kickers, the problem is many like thin and thick is hard to find.

I find rubber grips less then asthetic. But are my preference for actually shooting, especially with heavier loads.

The BFR cylinder frames are made at Pine Tree as well. As are the frames of the Freedom Arms Models 83 and 97 (..I kinda thought everyone knew these things...).

Generally speaking, I've found that Ruger panels don't really fit the BFR all that well. And grips that almost fit are nonsense. One is probably better off just having a custom set made from an outfit like Chig's. They do a fantastic job and are more than reasonably priced. All it takes is picking your blanks and sending in your gripframe.
