I am currently looking for a Marlin cowboy in 45-70, so have been monitoring the various gun websites trying to find one. Beware ARMSLIST. Look at this listing - first red flag is price is too good to be true. Second red flag is wait a minute, where have I seen this rifle before??

And now look at this listing on Gunbroker. HMMMMM, which one do you think is legit? I've already notified ARMSLIST and also the legitimate seller on GB.

We also operate by "THE STRATON RULE", "IF IT SEEMS LIKE A BARGIN, SOMETIMES IT IS".................! What about that guy on the Marlin forum, that wants / looking for a cowboy..? WORDED ODD.. its in 2 places kinda odd.

Scammer's on Armslist is nothing new, I buy and trade a lot on Amslist and have met lots of good people there, my advise is buy only local and FTF so you can see the good before you pay.

I would NEVER do a mail order deal on Armslist.
Search for listings in your area or state and arrange a FTF to transfer money and firearm. Use a public location picked by you to do the transaction, so the seller doesn't get to your house, and you aren't ambushed in some out-of-the-way spot.

Have the seller bring the firearm to a local FFL dealer for you to examine and the dealer to transfer, if seller is unwilling play it safe do not buy from him.

Have been seeing this a lot lately, if it's to good to be true, usually find the pics they stole on gunbroker.

Interesting. The Armslist seller is in Nevada and the Gunbroker seller is in OK.
As 'hesco' mentioned, looks the Armslist guy probably copied the picture from Gunbroker.
