Best 25-man roster

The best 25-man roster I have personally watched. With few exceptions, all will be from National League because that's what I watched. And yes, I ceased interest in professional and collegiate sports in the mid-1980s. These may not be the best "stats" players. Nevertheless, they were winners, and have a synergy as a roster.

For perspective on how I believe baseball is supposed to be played:
- The most exciting plays in baseball are triples, double steals, suicide squeezes, put-outs from the outfield.
- I loathe interleague play, playoffs, designated hitters, narrowing of the strike zone, lowering of the pitcher's mound, and pitchers no longer able to strenuously brush-back hitters (à la Sam "toothpick man" Jones and Juan Marichal).
- I especially loathe telecasting baseball. Baseball is a radio sport.

Relief pitcher - Bruce Sutter, Hoyt Wilhem, Elroy Face

Outfield - Stan Musial, Willie Mays, Henry Aaron, Lou Brock

Infield - Joe Morgan, Ozzie Smith, Mike Schmidt, Dave Concepción, Maury Wills, Jim Gilliam, Ron Santo

Catcher - John Bench, Tim McCarver

Swing player - Pete Rose, Frank Robinson, Ernie Banks

Manager - [Either] Walter Alston or Whitey Herzog

In my humble opinion your list is very good but you are missing a true 1st baseman, even thou he started as a short stop how about Ernie Banks or if you wanted a true first baseman Willie McCovey ?
