I went shooting today with my Bearcat. This is the gun I sent off to Clements for a “trigger job” and an oversized bass pin. The gun shoots great. Clements said he adjusted the barrel cylinder gap as well.
Anyway, the gun is extremely accurate. But, and yeah, there always has to be a but it seems. But, the cylinder started to jam after say 50 rounds. If I removed the cylinder that seemed to fix the problem. Until that is, the bass pin just jammed up tight. It was half way in and half way out and stuck but good.
I managed to get in unloaded, the cylinder didn’t want to rotate, and you know how the Bearcat wants a half cock on the hammer to load and unload. Well, I got it unloaded. Then had to come home as I didn’t have s screw driver.
I think the base pin latch was cross threaded or something else odd going on with it. Could this have caused the problem? Whatever it was, in taking it apart,I think I stripped the threads on the little latch.
I’m going to order a new bass pin latch before I forget about it. Is there something else I should look at first?
Also, I’m not in anyway trying to blame Clements, he did a caliber conversion on another revolver of mine, and boy oh boy, what a smooth gun. And this Bearcat has noticeably better accuracy and a smoother trigger than before.
