Back from the Bush

Nice pictures but they make me feel a bit sad. It's not fun getting old, airplanes, sailboats, Alaska all gone now, just memories. Thanks for the pictures.... I think.

exavid, your take is a lot like mine. I just hit 78 years old. Right after my birthday I fell and broke my hip and had to get a replacement. My world stopped in that heartbeat. I hope things get better but know I will never get near as mobile as I was just one month ago. Guess we pretty much live on memories. In my case I pretty much did what I wanted, guns, flying, motorcycles, ATVing, girling, gambling, My regret is I didn't do a lot more of it when I could.
We all see and hear the story's of getting old but at least in my experience I think I didn't really take them completely to heart until I was laid low.

I shouldn't complain, at least I got to complete my 'bucket list'. A lot of people aren't that lucky. It would have been a lot nicer if arthritis wasn't in the deal though.

I busted my hip may 11. I came home from rehab three days ago. Needed to stay longer but insurance ran out and it was going to cost me $174 more each day so I bailed. My wife is as good as it gets nursing me so I am lucky. The rehab was good with good people yet very depressing and pathetic to see the old people in PT. At 78 I believe I was the youngest. It was a real downer. It`s probably fact that most of us WILL get there if our life isn't cut short by a heart attack or cancer. It`s something we all know but dont really accept until it happens to us personally.

Sorry to hear you broke your hip. My wife had a hip replacement that broke when she had a fall. She got a replacement for the replacement and got staph in the hospital and had to stay in rehab for a month. Lucky for us it cleared up of she might have had an amputation. It's for sure getting old isn't something for the weak.

And the funny part is those of us who get to old age are the 'lucky' ones.
