I’m in the early stages of planning a cull deer hunting trip and was thinking of bringing a handgun in addition to a rifle. I would like to put a scope on my Buckeye Blackhawk 10mm. My lgs has a B Square mount that looks like it would work but I’m concerned about it scratching the finish or causing other damage to the gun. Does anyone have any experience with these mounts? Are they easy to mount and do they stay put?

The B-Square will mar the finish. The two little wings and the post on top of the barrel will scratch it from repeated recoil. Unfortunately, so will the Weaver 301 where the two clamps touch the barrel. Not much, but it will. No way I'd do that to a Buckeye 10mm. Do you have another gun you could use?

I put electrical tape between 301 and Ruger. The front clamp slides on, barely touches. I have 301’s on blue an SS. No marks on mine. Make a small gasket

Weigand Combat makes two scope mounts to fit the Blackhawk. One has a clamp but they say it won't mar the finish. The other has no clamp but won't support a heavy scope or red dot. Neither require drilling and tapping the top strap.

I have the mini-mount on a GP-100 using a small red dot sight and it works very well.
