Are primers scares?

The DFW weather is terrible today so I drove to this one gun store with a nice variety of reloading supplies. They have a great selection of powder and their prices are normal from what I've seen. But today their primers were almost gone. I didn't ask. But they could just be getting a shipment say tomorrow. But I bought the last 500 small pistol primers they had.

Anyway, I'm not sure if anything is happening like before?

The one primer thats been hard to find the last few months in my area has been small pistol. You can get small pistol mags, but not standard small pistol most places.

My two favorite gun stores have many bricks of primers by all manufacturers in pistol, rifle and shotgun. What I can't find is Speer Gold Dot bullet heads in 9mm or 45.

Thanks! I wondered about this, I suppose they will get a shipment in sometime soon. Like I said they have a lot of powder and other supplies, bullets etc. even a shelf of rimfire ammo, all at good prices. It's nice to see this.

I have loaded 38's with small pistol mag primers, I honestly didn't see a noticeable difference. I don't know if that is a good practice to continue or not.

Yeah...I have used them a lot too. There have been times in the past that they were all I had.

Hi,

I get all my primers online these days, as the few LGSes in my neighborhood who carry reloading supplies can't seem to keep 'em in stock. The only ones I've noticed to be in short supply from my favorite vendors are the magnum rifles, both large and small, but I can live without them. Otherwise, though prices are all over the chart, the overall supply SEEMS to be the best it's been in many months. Not perfect, just the best in quite a while...

Haz-mat fees being what they are, in addition to shipping, we've been trying to put together group buys to minimize the bite from the added fees. Maybe there are guys at your range who'd be interested in doing that?

Rick that ain't a bad idea. About a group buy. I'm sure there are others who would do it. Most of the guys who shoot rifles do their own reloading. I'll have to ask next time.

Thanks! Not sure why I didn't think of it. I try to avoid the haz mat fee...sometimes it's unavoidable though.

Just got back from a gun show in Phoenix.

There's a reload/commercial ammunition/reloading components dealer called MiWall that shows up for all our outdoor shows and they were there this weekend.

They had all the Winchester small pistol primers you could want, both regular and Magnum.

I picked up a sleeve of SPP and a sleeve of LPP for $123.00/5,000

I was glad to see they had a ton of them as you guys made me nervous.

Pistol primers out the yazoo at both Sportsman's Warehouse and Cabellas; $32.99 per 1,000. Great price, Ka6otm!

No I'm certainly not trying to start any buying frenzy, this store in question has a good selection of powder.band yeah as Cholo just pointed out, Cabelas has a lot of primers also. But for me, Cabelas is further up the road, this store is closer.

I looked at Powder Valley online, their prices are pretty good. It wouldn't take a large order to cover the haz mat fee.

Went to another Sportsmans Warehouse yesterday, that makes 2 different stores in a week & everything but small pistol, plenty of small pistol mags.

I drove up to Cabelas this morning. They have lots of everything, primers and powder. Even small pistol.

I could have spent a lot of money, they had some nice Ruger's in the used gun cabinet. Their prices aren't so bad either. A Bisley single six for 450 and some other single six's in the 300 range. All pretty good condition.

I bought 4 bricks last Thursday there seems to be an ample supply.

Can not say the same for Alliant powder still scarce in these parts. ps
