NOTHING....NOTHING, ever remains totally the same. The Gripframes of Single six, Blackhawk, and Super Blackhawk revolvers routinely varied .020" [ twenty thousands ] of an inch in length and this drove their grip panel suppliers absolutely nuts as they held the stocks to a tolerance of .002" of an inch and got blamed when the stocks did not fit all that well to a particular pistol. IMAGINE THAT ?!!!
The stocks on my old custom BEARCAT do not fit the NM BEARCAT nor do the OEM stags on the NM fit the old model BEARCAT.

They’re are differences.
The Old Model grips from 1963 – 1973 and the New Model grips from 1993 – current will interchange on Bearcats, if awkwardly at times.
The red resin grips without medallions on the alpha Bearcats 1958 – 1963 are 1/8 inch shorter and the shoulder is cut with the radius of a 5/8 circle rather than an 11/16 circle like the OMs and NMs. OM and NM grips will not fit the alpha Bearcats. Alpha grips will go on OMs and NMs very sloppily.
On their revolvers with shoulders or washers, (Sec 6, Redhawk, Bearcat) Ruger came to embrace that 11/16 size, and I have wondered why that is. Seems like an oddball measurement.

Sack Peterson - Is the alpha Bearcat grip frame the same dimensions as the OM Bearcat frame that came later or is it shorter like the grips? Can OM Bearcat grips be be shortened to fit an alpha Bearcat by reducing the shoulder radius from 11/16 to 5/8 and sanding the bottom of the grips flush with the grip frame, or will the locator pin hole be in the wrong place? Its shorter like the grips.
Sure, theres no reason why you couldn't take OM Bearcat grips, reduce that shoulder crescent all the way around, and then shorten the bottoms.
Its a stretch then to hope that the alignment holes will line up perfectly, but adjusting those is very minor at that point.
