I have ran maybe 500 rounds through my ar556 and never had any problems only one jam. That was when I ran some ammo from the range I wanna say it was Mag Tech .556. Didn't seem to take it very well I ran 100 rounds and took it home to do my normal cleaning and that's when I noticed the scratches/gouges inside my bolt. Never seen that before and I'm not sure what caused it because I clean and lube my ar after every time after the range. Not sure if it's a big deal but I'm hesitant to take it out let me know some insight please!!

The easiest and most reliable method to answer your question would be to call Ruger customer service, explain your concerns and then email them the photos. They will more than likely reply to you the same day with the correct answer.
Ruger customer service is the best in the industry.

BTW, I replaced my Ruger BCG with an PSA Premium BCG. Reason? It's an M/16 carrier and the firing pin is shrouded.

And why is that important? Do you have a DIAS to run the gun like an M16?

In this posted pic, the upper BCG (with the squares around the BCG areas) is what Ruger uses in their AR-556. Because of these reasons, the lower BCG (with the circles around the BCG areas) is like the PSA Premium BCG I bought and installed in my AR-556.

In the posted pic below, you will notice that the fully auto M-16 BCG has more steel than the AR-15 semi auto BCG. The BCG with more steel has something to do with timing of the shot because it is heavier.
