Anybody tried Vintage Gun Grips for the Security Six?

There's a place called vintagegungrips.com that makes plastic grips for a bunch of different guns.

They have plastic molded copies of the Security Six factory wood grips, I am interested in them because they have some neat colors like what they call "Reddish Brown" that reminds me of the old Coltwood grips that came on Official Police revolvers in the 50's. They also have a straight Brown that might look OK.....

I was looking for a set of plastic grips for a Service Six I use for CC, I like the slim profile of the factory woods but hate dinging them up from putting the gun in and out of my "car safe", glove box, and just from the daily rigors of carrying a gun for hours per day. These plastic ones from this vintage gun grips look promising, for $40 or so, kind of high but they're the only ones like them I have seen. Just wondering if anyone has tried them. I was hoping they were hi impact poly, and not some cheap thin plastic that will crack in 2 days. Here's a pic of them......

Very interesting. I've ran across this company before when I was looking for Colt Police Positive grips, but I didn't realize they made Ruger grips as well. I would love to see how one of their Ivory sets looks on my Security Six.

They just added these recently, along with a set of plastic Redhawk grips but IMO plastic panels on a Redhawk just wouldn't seem right......

The Ivory color would look good on either a blue or SS Six. My main concern with these is the fit. You can always sand a little to correct some overhang but I would just hope they aren't grossly mis sized.

I have a parkerized Service Six with a spurless hammer that I plan to add to my "carry rotation" and these might be an option. I almost always prefer wood but for guns that see lots of carrying these might be the ticket. I already scratched a set of Sile wood targets putting a Service Six in my glove box to run into the post office.......no matter how careful you are, wood grips are gonna get dinged up if you carry the gun enough. Even with an IWB holster, a couple times I was getting out of my car and "thunk" I hear the wood grips hitting the door jamb, right through my shirt, putting a nice little compression on the grips. I can definitely see why LEO wheelguns have rubber grips more often than not......not only for control and better hold but the woods would be destroyed in less than a year....... Pachmayrs and others are too bulky for me for CC.

I have a set of the smooth Security Six factory "slim" grips, vintage gun grips says if you contact them and they are interested, you can send them a set of grips they don't have, they will make a mold out of them, mold you a free set, and send your originals back with the free plastic ones.

I've never bought grips from them. Have purchased several rifles butt plates though. Nice quality and ships quick.

I'm pretty sure I'm gonna order a set today. I'll let you guys know what I think of them.......have to decide if I want brown, reddish brown or red :D
