i occasionally buy old boxes of ammo at flea markets, and gunshows, especially if i have an old gun in that caliber. i really don't know much about most of it. can anyone nail down an approximate year-range/era for any of these? any help is appreciated!
first one is remington 38s&w:

second one is peters 38s&w. this is a pretty nice box, and mint cartridges. i got them from an old guy who used to own a gunshop. i had bought a couple of guns from him back in the day, and i saw him at a gunshow a few weeks ago. he is a nice guy. he thought they were from the early 60's.

third one is remington 32s&w:

4th one is remington 38colt:

5th one is winchester 32 s&w:

6th one is western 25auto. this one is pretty nice, and the cartridges look like new, too.

if anyone has any input, i appreciate it. i was just kindly trying to match up some old ammo with the same era guns.

thanks!

thanks for the link! i have about got them figured out.

Hi,

Haven't checked the link yet, but I have shotshell boxes from the early to mid-'60s printed up in the same style by these same mfrs.

What did you find about yours?

the general concensus on the western 25auto is early 70s:

the old winchester 32s&w box was from 1946 to 1955:

the red, white and blue peters 38s&w was from 1962-1968.
("keep out of reach of children" was required in 1962)

the remington 38 coltnp box is from 1962-63. the "warning ...children" was in a square in the upper left hand corner these 2 years.

the other two remington boxes have the "warning" box in a straight line along the bottom (like the peters box), and are from 1964-1973.

a remington box like these WITHOUT the "warning...children..." was 1961 only. i think all this is pretty interesting! at least i have a little advance knowledge next time i run across something interesting!

I once got some old 32 S&W Longs from a lady, about half I fired sounded weak, then I had one that stuck a bullet in the barrel. Fortunately I had the where with all to recognize a problem. Stopped right then went home pulled the bullets threw the bullets in the lead pot, punched the primers, threw out the powder and reloaded with new bullets, primers and powder. Nice source of brass though. When you acquire old ammo you don't know the storage history. Were they kept in the attic, in the basement, or on top of the fireplace mantle?
