I/we had a bit of a fuzz up last week with a Hunt Nation representative. My friend was working on our planned elk hunt this fall and had decided on a potential choice. Friend was doing the ground work and I reminded him I'd had a bad experience with a guide service in the same area. Friend asked if the hunt we were looking at involved 'XYZ guide service' to which the Hunt Nation rep repeated a dissertation of how many ranches and how large an area the guide had access to--which was apparently enough to convince/confuse the actual question.
I sent a check to Hunt Nation to hold our dates but before it was delivered, I got a bill and 'contract' from the same 'XYZ guide service' that my friend had asked specifically about. I emailed the Hunt Nation rep pointing out that this guide was not acceptable and that we'd been misled. Hunt Nation rep replied that 'he had not specifically said that XYZ guide was not involved'. IMHO, failure to state the truth is very close to telling a lie.
Anyhoo, I stopped payment on my check and notified the Hunt Nation rep that our business was terminated.
Guess we're looking again. :(
My point is: Even big-name outfits like Hunt Nation can/will/do pull shenanigans so be cautious.

That's very interesting. Makes me glad we couldn't all get it together with you. THe guy I was talking to,, SEEMED accommodating,, until he said on one day he had plenty of space, & the very next said he didn't. Then when I made an inquiry,, he "found" us 3 spots but not the 4th one. All within a few days.
