Another Ruger in jail...

Threw my first center fire rifle into People's Republik firearm jail today.

It's a stainless Mini 30 with wooden furniture. The rear sight is busted but I was going to put good sights on anyway.

It will join a couple Ruger bottom feeding pistols and the obligitory 10/22.

If it is a ranch rifle, and they are the ones that usually bust or have the little flip up peep sight fall off, then williams makes a nice replacement and I'm sure others do too.

I think you need to 'splain that PRFJ further.

Jeeeze, they let you have military type assault weapons in Kali.? Oh, I know 10 rounds at a time. That is going to stop any massacre from happening, for sure. :shock:

Their tactic here is pretty standard. Pass a "reasonable" law & never let a good crisis go to waste. Who could be against "COP KILLER BULLETS!" :shock:
... or "MILITARY STYLE ASSAULT WEAPONS!"

A little at a time... one chip at a time. Like the frog in the nice pot of luke warm water.

Most people think "Those politicians must be STUPID!" Far from it. The nonsense (to us) laws serve a very specific purpose. To get one step closer to the ultimate goal... the disarming of the citizenry.

I wish more people would see that...

If it's any consolation, people in Puerto Rico have a minimum 3-month wait. No maximum is set bu law. I know a guy who bought a shotgun and had to wait 9 months for the police to release it to him.

People are ignorant and many folks don't really care what the truth of a thing is. I debated a kid in Highschool about gun control. This was back when Winchester had came out with the Black Talon bullets.

Predictably he labeled the Black Talon bullets as "Cop Killers" and "armor piercing". I countered that they were a garden variety hollow point with a fancy black coating as a marketing gimmick. He didnt believe me (of course).

So I asked him to produce a documented case where black talon bullets had penetrated a bullet proof vest. Of course he couldn't, because they cant penetrate a police issue ballistic vest.

He couldnt (or didnt want to) understand the simple explanation of how a hollow point bullet works and why this makes it the exact opposite of an armor piercing round.

He had his opinion and he was married to it despite all evidence to the contrary. (to this kid's credit, this was a structured Highschool class debate and this was the topic we were assigned so it would have been bad form to abandon the position he was assigned. Part of the point of the class was to learn to argue positions you dont necessarily believe in.) but I digress...

Getting back to the point...That Crap you refer to, can and will fly if the local or national media thinks it has legs and will get them ratings. And many people will believe what they are told. It doesnt take too many dead children for people to get really scared and start looking for something, anything to DO to say they have taken action to prevent a reoccurance, even if whatever they do is meaningless nonsense that wont prevent squat.

So be sure you Vote.

And if you find yourself talking with a person who is for gun control, be patient and explain the reasons why you disagree with them. And be nice about it. Most folks just need to hear a sound reasoned arguement against gun control and they will be more open to questioning it in the future. Most folks know that the media is full of idiots. Sometimes we just need a reminder.

And I thought Ohio was pretty restrictive, not allowing people to hunt with rifles or allow concealed carry... I'm pretty spoiled by MT's gun laws, which are approximately one paragraph, and cover the definition of a "weapon" and the places where it is banned (bars).

I remember the CLAMOR about them, I don't think the round was actually banned, but got such a bad/EVIL rep from them...the manufacture ...
put out a JUST as effective round,basically THE SAME ROUND, just without the "pointy tips",and a friendlier name......
