Put a medallion in place of the hogue logo.

Plan to make some with the black medallion too as soon as Ruger gets them to me.

That is sweet. Great job.
From where did you order those? Was it online?

I got the hogue grip from ebay and the medallions from Ruger.

About 35 in parts and a few hours labor.

I still have to stake the back of the medallion. Didn't have the correct tool so I have to modify a tool I have to complete the project. I should be able to finish up tonight. I did test fit a mag and the medallions don't protrude enough to bother so all is good.

Thanks,

Ruger was willing to part with four medallions (not more) @ $2.50 each.
I'll see about fittting them onto my P95. Strong glue.

It is a stepped process.

1. Drill hole.
2. install screw with "special" washer
3. cut around washer
4. Remove screw / washer
5. chisel out the rubber carefully
6. drill hole large enough to except medallion pin.
7. stake pin (haven't done this yet but tonight should be able to.)
8. Sit back and glory in your craftsmanship.
9. Post it up for other to look at.

They told me they had a 20 pc max (per month) and they log it because of the resellers on ebay etc. that rip people off.

There is a guy on ebay that sells the red set like I have here for 16.99! And he has sold a lot of sets!! I would like to think Ruger gun owners are smarter than that but ...

FYI, I got these for 8.50 delivered.

Thanks for the tips. Looks great. If you get a chance, take a pic of the back side once it's staked.

Ruger hosed me though and sent the wrong medallions. I wanted the SR units and they sent the R only. I still took a pic of them.

So I called Ruger and they told me the SR logo in black is no longer avail!!

Anyone have any they want to trade or sell? I guess worst case I could get some red ones and paint them but that wouldn't hold up as well I'm affraid.

Those look pretty nice Roy!!
Did you buy a fostner bit??
Good Luck finding the older Black SR Emblems..
You might have to buy a couple of sets of MKII grips, Also the emblems are also on the bottom of the MKII magazines too..

Thanks Berettapistols.
That is what troubles me. There are how many guns out there that have this black SR logo and they don't have any medallions to support the ruger nuts? I understand you can't support products forever but sure wish they would.

The girl on the phone said I could send these R units back for credit but if that is all there is than I'll keep them. The R is growing on me but I would really like the SR since that is what it says on the side of the slide.

No fostner bit for rubber. Cut by hand with a xacto knife. very careful and took my time. Only cut one finger so far HAHA

How flush do they fit to the grip? I am working on a set for my self and cannot seem to get them to get compleatly flush with the grip. What pistol did you get your emblems from?

They fit pefectly flush.
On both the uncle mikes and the hogue you need to remove all the rubber and get to the backing material.

On the mikes it is super easy because the backer is metal so you can just make a circle and it pops out. (may have to detail trim here and there, that is a pain in the butt)

On the hogues the backer is fiberglass type material so you can actually dig into that too. Basically just remove the rubber and detail to fit the diameter. Also on the hogue you have to countersink the through hole for the mounting post because the mounting post is tapered a little.

I ordered the medallions from Ruger. There are a lot for sale elsewhere but they are just rip-offs. Ruger is 2.50 each plus freight which is 3.50 generally.

Post a pic of what you have and I'll try to help more if I can.

i am testing with the ones from my 22/45 RP, I orderd from ruger and they should be here soon, a set of both colors because I cannot decide which to use. I just wanted to make sure that I had to go through the back part also. Thanks and I hope mine turn out half as nice as yours.

Thanks for the comment. I'm sure yours will come out nice. Just don't get in a hurry cutting. It takes me about 4 hours from start to finish.

So you ordered from both locations? to get black and red right.

Post picks when you get a chance. I like to see others work.

yes the NH location could only sell Black and the AZ could only sell Red. It took me about 4hrs. taking my time. I will post pictures as soon as they are done.

Stopped at the Hogue factory on my way to work and bought another pair of grips.

We now have his 'n hers P-pistols.

Bump for the p-nuts.

They look great.
Where do you get the medallions?
I looked at shopruger.com and found none.

Call Ruger parts department. the medalions were $2.50 a piece last year and probably still are. Crooks on ebay sell them too but jackup the price.

When I first called Ruger the lady was snotty about it and told me there is a limit on how many one person can buy. I guess the crooks on ebay buy these all the time just to resell. After I told her I just wanted these for some custom grip for myself she changed her tune.

Good luck,

I have a set of wood with the medalions on here someplace if you search for me you should be able to find it. Again lucky ebay find. I have not tried to mod any wood grips yet.

Hogue sells seconds on there websight at about 25 bucks I think? You could get those and then mod them with medalions from ruger. Be about 30 - 35 bucks after shipping etc. Of couse you still have to mount the medalions but it is pretty easy.

What a load of crap. Ruger stopped seling the medallions. All I could get was one as a replacement for a p345 and I had to give him the guns serial number. The guy said doing this was illegal as it violates trademark law.
