Another 10/22 build

Got bored and decided to build a new one. I ordered all of my parts online and they're currently in the mail. Here's what I'm starting out with. Standard Ruger 10/22 from Bi-Mart for $219





I got my new stock in the mail. Looking at it online, I wasn't sure if I would love it, but I do!









Hopefully I'll get internals soon so I can get this thing stripped down.

Magnum Research graphite .920 bull barrel with muzzle break weighing in at 12.5 ounces.

I'm glad to see there is a muzzle break on the new barrel. We wouldn't want you to suffer from any recoil pain... :lol:

Keep us posted, I'd like to see the results. I like the stock too, but I'm left handed...Is it one of those from Boyds? The Revolution or Evolution, something like that?

Definitely keep us updated with pics. I keep debating doing the same. Even bought a used 10/22; but then liked it so much, decided to keep it as is. I need to find a used one that is not so nice.

Close, it's the Yukon Extreme. Here's a left handed one, not a big variety of colors for the leftys

I got more parts in the mail today. The bolt










Bi pod



And my Volquartsen 2.5 lb trigger with all metal internals

Start off with the plain jane Ruger 10/22



Pull off the barrel band, unscrew the stock and it all pulls right out



Unbolt the barrel and beat it off



Drop the trigger group, bolt, and charging handle out and it's completely stripped. I then switched receivers with my other gun so I could swap serial numbers, so that's why it may look a little dirty in some pictures.

Install the charging handle/spring



Then install the bolt



Top end is complete, now install the trigger group



And the barrel



Then install into the new stock

Pulled the stock back off so I could drill in my stud and mount the bipod. Lined up the mounting plate as centered as my eyeball could get it, then marked center.



Drilled myself an 1/8" hole



And twisted the stud in there





And now I'm able to mount my bi-pod













The last thing I'm waiting on is my scope, hopefully it will be here by the weekend so I can get it sighted in and do some shooting on Saturday.

And I got my scope today. BSA Sweet 22, 6-18x40. I guess you could say the gun is complete now, but who knows, I'm sure I'll change it up eventually lol

I always liked the Revolution stocks. have a couple of their Yukon models. Prefer their more eggshell like finish rather than glossy myself but like their grip a bit more than Boyd's. Revolution has always been great to deal with too.
Got one of the JWH bolts when he first started out. Was a special surprise for my son when he was doing his first all-his build. Will get a couple more for two upcoming builds.
Try fooling around with pressure points after floating the barrel and with different ammo. Should be able to get varying results and see what works best for you.

This is my first JWh bolt. I shot the gun for the first time today. It jammed the first shell, and then cycled the next 99 flawlessly. I completely love it. Last week I ordered a custom bolt for my wife's gun, it's in the mail right now. Can't wait to surprise her with it :)

Nice stuff man. I'm attempting to get the same bipod mount on a stock ruger 10/22. The bipod and mount are in the mail now. Question: Where did you get the stud? Or was it included with your bipod?

That's a real slick build.

I was going to build a 10/22 up with a Kidd trigger group, but thought better of it since ammo is so hard to find at a reasonable price. Picked up a Colt 5.56 instead. At least I have 1990's components I can use to load my own ammo with.
