An unexpected issue

You've all heard that "one man's junk is another man's treasure". Well this morning we fell into the treasure chest. A machinery swapper a few miles away posted that he had a pile of skidloader/min-excavator tracks that he was giving away. We're always looking for that sort of thing to use for erosion control so called and took the whole pile.
Now for the issue. My dump truck is on a quarterly license that hasn't been renewed in 2020. Normally not any problem BUT license offices are CLOSED until further notice. I had not considered that we couldn't even buy a vehicle license. Guess we'll have to go to plan B.

Check to see if MO has suspended Driver Services for 30 days due to the virus. I know IL has, MO might too.

I bought a small fishing boat last Saturday so we can fish during the quarantine time.
I called the DMV to see about registering it. They said I can do paperwork through the door slot, but I have to find a police officer to verify the VIN number as they will not come out of the DMV office to inspect it as they usually do. (they actually charge a $3 fee for a DMV employee to come out to your vehicle and verify it.)
I asked her, "what is the penalty for operating an unregistered canoe during the quarantine, she laughed and said "It is not like any lake patrol are going to be checking anyone for awhile"

I think in Texas they gave extensions as well. I wouldn't be too worried about a dump truck's license. It's not like you are going to be driving it that much, are you?

As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases. Product prices and availability are accurate as of the date/time indicated and are subject to change.
Online renewal only if license is not expired yet. As I said, this is a quarterly license that officially expired 12/31/19 so no, not renewable online.
Before the comments begin, keep in mind that it's very common to only license HD farm trucks for the final 3 or 6 months of the calendar year since many are only used during late summer/fall harvest time.

Doesn't look like you're eligible for the extension since the plates expired last year.

Take your chances and risk a ticket or find another means or time to get them picked up seems your only option.

Heck, not comparing PA to MO, but weekend before last, Mrs. Aqualung and I were out for a bite and we both realized I hadn't gotten my truck inspected...since December!

Was "Ridin' Dirty" for 3 months...

I'd say to roll the dice and go get your tracks.

Aqualung

Don't know about Mo., but in Ks the fine for no tag is a heck of lot cheaper than running an expired tag. Not saying you should run without a tag. I hope you come up with a good solution.

Seriously? In these days? I would think any policeman would be understanding. Mobuck said the tracks to be hauled are close by (“...a few miles away...”) it’s obvious he isn’t trying to just cheat the system.

We had a neighbor down the street, they had a passenger car parked on the street, the registration window sticker was 2 years expired. They drove it anyway. I can’t say if they got a ticket, but it was obvious they never bothered to pay the registration.

Besides, in the OP’s situation, wouldn’t the registration only be checked if he were to be pulled over for another infraction?

The plates have a colored sticker with the year of expiration on them. 2019 stickers are yellow so if a cop saw it the vehicle gets stopped.
But with the who flung poo flu I don't think a cop would bother.

Ah! I see, in TX they did away with the stickers on the plates, it’s just the date on the window sticker showing the vehicle has been inspected and the registration paid.

On the off chance you did get stopped I've discovered over the years (just my experience & opinion) how you look and act toward the LEO makes all the difference in the world.... I take my farm vehicle over there and pick the stuff up.

One day, while driving to town,a car passed me that had Tennessee plates.
There was duct tape covering the last 3 numbers ,and new numbers were marked in.
He was either a very smart person,or his buddies were pranking him! 8)

I made the first trip w/o seeing a single vehicle close enough to read the plate.
My Uncle drove an old pickup Dad gave him for 5-6 years w/o registration, insurance, or license. He drove it everywhere and wasn't stopped or checked a single time. I pulled an unlicensed trailer(just built and on it's virgin test run) 5 miles and got a warning ticket for no license/registration. Just how the chips fall and the alertness or lassitude of whatever LEO one may meet.
