Amazon delivery

I ordered a 40 pound bag of lump charcoal on Amazon. It was supposed to be delivered last Sunday. I didn’t have to go to Home Depot etc. and the price was decent. So I’m watching the tracking. And it came to some big warehouse just south of Dallas on I-45. I could have driven down and picked it up.

But No!

They shipped it off to Hagerstown MD, 1,300 miles away!

It was returned and they just now delivered it.

Free Shipping! 3,538 miles for 40 pounds.

I look to make sure it is sold by Amazon and delivered by Amazon.

I have Prime and once an order is placed, I go look . . . again . . . to see how long
it will take. Over two days and I cancel the order. - - - That means they have not
been totally truthful in their seller/delivery information.

I had one that I really wanted and it went from Chi. to MD, to TX (I think), THEN to
AZ for delivery.

On the plus side, ordered one item a week or so ago, and it was delivered that
afternoon (had it in a Phoenix warehouse).

All depends on where you are and which warehouse it is in. :shock:

Oh I know. This was Prime delivery, two days... But they have been prioritizing their deliveries to make "essential" items delivered faster. I guess they think charcoal isn't "essential"

We've used Amazon for years. Since 2002 in fact. I ordered a DVD player way back when. You can download a CSV file showing how much you order in a given time frame, say one year... it's rather scary.

Amazon Prime is easy and quick. Never gotta leave the house! ps

Here Sunday delivery usually means they turn it over to the U.S. Postal disservice... and it will arrive around Wednesday or Thursday of the next week... So, usually if I'm ordering on a Friday I'll wait a day.... and then I'll get it on Monday or Tuesday via regular Prime delivery.

Usually here in Dallas, the Sunday Amazon deliveries are quick. I thought Amazon at one time contracted with the Post Office for that service. They drove those little trucks around. I assumed the workers got overtime perhaps?

I think with this charcoal, being 40 pounds, weight was the issue. Also, for some reason, the bag is marked "Food Service, Not for Resale." My wife thought it might be some from some restaurant supply company selling unused supplies.
