Pretty much all members of the weasel family are that smart (except skunks, they have that other thing....). Wolverines (distant relative) are famous for getting into the most ingenious food caches and out of the most ingenious traps.
And they are all fierce animals for their size. (Actually ANY size--I saw a fisher about the size of an alley cat chase two big northern coyotes off a deer carcasse once.).
The South African Army named their best and most effective armored vehicle "Ratel"--Afrikans for honey badger.

Put him out, watch through the curtains and he would SIT in the middle of the yard; "IS he gone yet?" turn head to reply and back to the curtain and "OOOPPPPSSS" he was gone in that heartbeat; How he KNEW you weren't looking was beyond me. He DID always comeback home and look sheepish at the front door though.
