I was talking to a young friend of mine at church recently. He is of exceptional talent and knowledge for a youngster of his age, just graduated from high school.
He told me of starting to use a propane torch, one of those with a electro spark lighter.
As he tried to light the torch, it failed, and he found it was too full of carbon to work. He had a half full of coke he had been drinking, so he cut the top of the can off and dunked the element into the remaining coke. He then rinsed it off and it was as clean as new.
"Bryce," I asked him, "whatever made you think to do that?"
"Well," he explained, "I knew the phosphoric acid in the soda would cut the carbon."
Well, yeah. Sure I knew that.
