Aggressive Semi-auto fire

Saw an episode of one of those shooting competition reality shows where the contestants squared off shooting Tommy guns with either 50 or 100 round drum magazines. The goal was to completely obliterate a paper target (shoot out all the red) at about 30' in the standing position. In very short order each contestant, who were experienced shooters went from controlled bursts to spraying and praying.

They hit everything else around their targets but neither completed the goal. They sure had a lot of fun though and went through a ton of bullets.

Always like your posts Gunny but that slaughterbot post has kept me up at night:)

Ahh. Don't worry, Be happy. The experts all say that it will be 10-20 years before the AI bots are smarter than we are. But I guess that depends somewhat on who you're comparing them to.

On the other hand insects are pretty stupid, but still manage to bite/sting us. Ever been chased by a swarm of yellow jackets?

That's what they are modeling the insect drones on. All they need to do is smell you and see you. As for delivery systems, how many bee sized bot's could you put in a Buzzard or Goose drone for later deployment? - Multi-nested delivery systems will greatly extend the range.

Gunny, I really appreciated the video. My ex-DI father taught me aimed fire, cause if "you aren't hitting, you are the one dying". Your comments on the bots is disturbing. Hmmm, bird shot should do it?

probably just me, but every time I've ever shot full auto... the first two or three rounds counted and the rest went up in the air at least until I pulled the barrel back down....

extreme example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rfV8HnRDH70

I’ve gotta friend that is a class 3 dealer. When my son was 14, we went out with a truck load of ammo and quite a few full autos. My son was shooting at steel plates at 100 yards with a M16. Semi auto was just a steady pace of bang-ding, bang-ding, bang-ding. One three round burst it was one round hit and two high and right. Out of the mouth of babes - full auto is a great way to miss a lot.

It was pretty fun watching him shoot the BAR. 5 round burst would push him back a few feet, he would giggle as he crawled forward to fire again. Good times.
