Aftermarket magazine for Ruger 380 LCP

Has anyone had good luck with aftermarket magazines for the Ruger 380 LCP? I like the finger rest on the "Promag" brand but am not sure how reliable it is.

Why risk aftermarket mags when the Ruger mags work flawlessly. There is not much money saved when you figure the cost of wasting ammo used testing junk mags. Factory mags and McGar are the only ones that are totally dependable and even with them there is a possibility of a defect.

I bought a 10-round ProMag aftermarket LCP magazine after a friend reported good luck with his. It works fine.

After experiencing numerous FTFeed issues, I have a 10rd Promag magazine for my LCP that works very well as a paperweight. I had intended to use it for range use, but it proved to be too unreliable. I now only use Ruger or MecGar OEM mags in my LCP and have had no problems.

I put the long Kel-tec Magazine in my LCP after folks told me "The Ruger is just a rip off copy of the K-T P3!"
No it isn't and the Magzine does not feed or hold position in the grip.

I have 1 promag magazine & it worked fine for the first 20-30 cycles. Didn't drop it or bump the feed lips, but now I get an occasional jamb with it...not every cycle....only once every few trips to a firing line- more than enough to relegate it to "range only" duty. I have 2 Ruger mags with the Hogue pinky grips on them that work flawlessly! I am thinking of adding MaGuts kits to them though....anyone that has done that already wanna chime in on the reliability of them?

Thanks for all the input! Just went through 2 boxes of ammo with my recently purchased LCP. Lotta kick from a little gun. Grouping was a little large at 7 yards but not bad for a gun with virtually no sights! Came home and purchased a NEW OEM mag to avoid any issues!

Consider the little device from Mag-guts. It costs about $20, works great, and allows you to load 7 rounds into your magazine instead of 6. It's basically a different spring and follower.

Geoff Timm, LCP and P3AT factory mags are both top quality and perform flawlessly, but the notch for the mag release is closer to top on P3At mag so LCP mag will not latch in a P3AT and P3AT mag latches before it is completely seated in the LCP. I shoot both LCP an P3AT and neither one has ever had any problems when using factory magazines.

It has been very reliable, but only gives me two fingers on the grip but makes it more controllable. Unfortunately is just a bit long for pocket holster wear.

Has anyone had the front sight on their LCP ground off and replaced with a gold shotgun bead? The current front sight is difficult to use, especially in a flash sight picture. I saw the replacement mentioned once, but I could not Google (TM) a reference.

Geoff, I find the low-profile front sight for the LCP to be very quick to acquire using a modified Ayoob "Fastfire" technique. Many of my friends do not duplicate my experience, however. :)

I've got 2 of the 6 round pro mags . Both work fine in my lcp. Honestly I haven't met anyone that has had problems with the 6 rounders. Now, everyone seems to have issues with the 10 rounders.
