First post - longtime lurker- what I'm looking for is a S&W j-frame rear sight assembly or something similar. Any suggestions would be appreciated. It would be to convert a ss .32 Vaquerto w/ 4 5/8 barrel. I already have the front sight covered. Thanks-Jacob

Welcome! I don't have or know who might have one, but you might also post a WTB in the classifieds.

Contact S&W's parts department. You should be able to buy a J-frame adjustable (the M60 3" has adjustables) rear sight or a K/L-frame adjustable rear assembly. Brownells sells Bowen sights to fit S&W revolvers but doesn't seem to have the J-frame version.

These are windage adjustable...don't know if these would work or not, but the price seems to be okay sans the machine work.

I think David Clements will sell you one of his rear sights, but I'm not 100% certain. It couldn't hurt to ask him.

Vaquero or Vaquerito?

As I understand it the .32 Vaquerito is just a .32 Single Six with the groove rear sight and round blade front sight. Why re invent the wheel, just buy a .32 single six. There are a handful on GB right now, and it would be easy enough to sell the Vaquerito here...
I read somewhere that Ruger did at some point offer the Vaquerito with a shorter grip frame, the aforementioned came with the same grip frames as the Blackhawks and Vaqueros.

Maybe someone will step in and tell us both if I'm right.....

I have the short grip frame .32 stainless w/ 4 5/8 barrel. I want to stay with this setup because my wife carries it daily on hikes around our farm. I just want to ad sights. Smith and Wiegand parts are on b/o so I thought I would check here.

Jacob,

The best two possibilities are the J frame Micro click adjustable sight or the pre war version which is reproduced by Clements for $95.

The pre war is the lowest and sleekest but not as easy to adjust and he only sells them for guns he works on.

So the J frame Micro click is your best bet.

If you have a local Smith I'm sure he can get you one. Or Brownells has them here, in black for $45: http://www.brownells.com/handgun-parts/sights/rear-sights/sight-assembly-rear-086-black-sku940000486-14694-34168.aspx?sku=940000486
