I'm looking for another rifle. My question is on the stainless RS models. Does anyone know if the heavier barreled rifles in 25-06,7mag,300mag,or 338mag jad open sights?

I have a stainless RS in a 7mag but it has the light contoured barrel. I'd like to find another in any of the calibers mentioned above for a new stock I have lying here. The stock is for the heavy profile (from a 25-06) and that's why I'm asking. I've not seen an RS in anything besides the lighter barrels.

Thanks,
Jeff

Matt,

I almost have to believe the heavy rs barrels are out there because I have never seen a 25-06 or a 338 in a light barrel. Not sure on the 300's. I doubt there are many out there though and that's not going to be an east find. A stainless rs action in 25-06 for this stock would really make my day!

If you just interested in getting sights on it, putting a banded front sight on is easy. Ruger sells the front sights for standard, african, alaskan ( and likely RCM) contours and NECG makes them in many sizes.

They install with a set screw and if you desire something permanent you can add Locktite or Epoxy.

For a rear sight.. I love the NECG peep sights. With a front sight and the NECG in my pack I am pretty set if I damage my scope. just pop it off and pop on the NECG peep
