Just takes the $$$. many have asked about similar "why don't they make ______". I always tell 'em that if it's such a sure big hit, to simply put their $$$ up to have the contracted run made. Having tried this albeit on a smaller scale, it's not an easy task to get a large number of people to financially commit to a set item. Everyone always wants just what THEY ant with no deviation from their specifics. The barrel length, finish, chambering, wood, this that... People can't compromise. You the end up with 200 people with 175 different "I must be _____" for me to do it. Even if a agreement can be had of 200, you then are up against Ruger being willing to cut into their production to agree to make the special run. It's not a guarantee they'll go for it. Of course the more units the order would be for the more it sweetens the deal for them. That just means more $$$ on the line for the contractee. Then you have the VERY good chance that all those 200 people that agreed, won't all step up with the $ once the item becomes available. VERRY few will put the $ up front either so that again puts a big financial risk on the contractee (distributor) Having a run made and then having them not sell... kinda inhibits additional special runs of similar configuration.
Then again...if it's THAT much of a sure thing, surely putting up your own cash would be a sure profit producer.
