A question of sizing.

Having recently opened up the throats of two of my Ruger 45's to .4525 inches I've ordered an RCBS 45 calibre 270 gr mold from Midway. What would you size it to? 452 or 454? I've got both sizer dies. Many thanks.

If that is a Lee push thru...I would open that .452 sizer up a little. Also, see what size that mold drops...if it is .453, I would shoot them as cast.

Jim,
My sizer dies are Lyman's and I've read the mold drops a 454 bullet. Guess I'll see when it gets here.

That's going to depend largely on your particular alloy. Different alloys cast to different diameters.

Give the .452 a shot...if no leading and accuracy are on par, you are good to go. If you do the .454...you have just negated the uniforming of the chambers...you will be right back in the same boat.

I would open that .452 up a little, if it were mine. You probably know how, but here is a link that explains how it can easily be done.
