I took this picture today for a forthcoming article on the old model Blackhawks. I thought this one was particularly photogenic. It's a .357, shipped in October, 1967. I thought the grips were unusually nice. Hope you enjoy seeing it.

Boy that looks nice. I really like that frame size. Nice packer. I have run into them with too short of a front sight, that one looks about right.

Great pic...I bought my S/N 31-18150 new in 1972, and the only difference I see is the the 'ramp' on the nose piece that holds the front sight, is only about 1/4 long, and at a sharper angle...

It also has the 'neck feathers' logo on the grips - the logo is silver & the background is black...

This has always been my favorite Ruger... I did have the transfer bar installed when they originally notified owners, as I like to hold 'six' when camping, etc...

Welcome to the Forum Mexray!
If you have the silver Eagle grips, on an OM, it's possible somebody swapped them out, OR,, it was shipped with the NM grips.
And as for the ramp on the front sight,, We'd love to see a few pics.

Very nice. I have it's twin, well, actually it's little sister from 1972. The other "twin" I had from '71 is visiting elsewhere with a buddy. Wish I could make pictures of her like that. What's the secret?

Contender! He is probably talking about the "Squashed Chicken" grips which would be correct for a late Old Model Blackhawk

got one just like it but has NO finish left on it ...have been trying to make up my mind to send it or not to Ruger for a refinish/rebuild but I'm not a fan of .357 [SBH are my thing] but after seeing John's gun I might have to send it off ...thanks for the picture....beautiful !!
