Some talk on the forum about diesels recently. The other night I was driving home from Atlanta after spending the weekend with my grandchildren. It was dark with just a few cars on Rt.16. A white Ram with the 5.7 Hemi engine pull around me and into my lane. He hit his accelerator a few times and then pulled into the left lane and waited till I caught up. My truck is a F 250 with a 6.4 diesel. I have a Spartan tuner and a little other work done to my truck. It has not been on a dyno but trucks equipped like mine show 600 HP and 1100 foot pounds of torque. Well, it was wrong of me on so many levels but I hit the skinny pedal hard and went past that Dodge like he was dragging an anchor. Go diesel or go home.

"REAL trucks don't have spark plugs !"

'06 6.0 Powerstroke - ARP head studs, coolant bypass filter, aftermarket egr cooler and oil cooler, hypertech programmer..... yup, it's quick.

You have the same engine as me on my F350. Believe it or not I just ran out the powerplant warranty and plan on doing the tune, dpf and EGR delete. Have you had any problems with the Spartan? I did a lot of research when I first bought this truck new but didn't want to void the warranty so I have become a little out of touch with what all of the different tuners are for this truck.

No problem with the Spartan. Tunes are from 40 to 350. The 210 tune is a great one. The 250 tune is really all you need. And best of all is the huge improvement in mileage. Properly done your truck will eat c6 vettes.

If I remember right isn't the Spartan able to change which tune you wish to run, simply using the dash mount? I may be way off because as I said it has been a while since I did the research. I.E. economy, a little extra and a lot extra? I know there was one of the manufacturers/tuners that did this.

Banks has the dash mounted switchable tuner. My F250 6.0 had all their goodies on it. Programable tuner with the extra chip, cold air intake and exhaust. It was fast and got 20+ mpg towing my 24' enclosed car trailer. Decided to get rid of it before any of the 6.0 gremlins showed up.

Yes, with the dash unit you can switch tunes. You cannot change on the fly however. And make sure you have a battery charger hooked up when you do the tune. If you lose battery voltage you lose the computer's memory.

thanks for reminding me why they invented air bags and insurance premiums for innocent bystanders on the public roads. ;>

No, that reminder should come from the people who passed me on a double solid line in a school zone just this morning. Or perhaps it should come from the people who text on their smart phone and forget others share the road. Or perhaps the ones that play the tunes so loud you can't hear a car horn. Or maybe the ones that have the windows tinted so dark you can't see if they are looking your way or not before starting a turn. Gee you don't do any of that do you?
