5 Shot Bisley or Blackhawk

Hmm, mine are all five shot... load one, skip one, load four more ;) .... except when target practicing then I'll load six. Freedom Arms makes 'em with 5 holes....

Oh and I certainly don't need more 'power'. The BH and Bisley will handle more than I need/want!

I've never converted a Ruger since Freedom Arms is a hop, skip and a jump.....

I've handled several Linebaugh guns. Nice, very nice!

I certainly agree the "original" 5 shot .45 Colt would be the choice......

If one needs a 5 shot for use of the extra heavy loads, IMO, it's more senseable to simply buy a more powerful chambering to begin with.

I would agree. You get a lot more effectiveness out of a .475 or .500 with moderate loads than a .45Colt will ever give you. The cost is the same.

When I had Ben Forkin do a custom 45 Colt for me we discussed the 5 shot vs 6 shot on the Colt and his testing shows that you don't gain that much in going with a 5 shot 45. Lee Martin has a good article on his website about 5 shot 45 Colts and while you can bump the hp up some with the 5 shot over the 6 shot, it is hard for me to justify when like was mentioned you can go to a 475 or 500 5 shot and have a real thumper. I do have a 5 shot 475L and a 5 shot long cylinder 414 Supermag with a 5 shot 500L on the bench at Dustins but most my customs are 6 hole guns with 5 stuffed in.

This is the 475 John L. built that is at his shop getting a brass gripframe.

This one is the 414 Supermag 5 shot.

A five shot 41 leaves LOTS of steel around the chambers :D

Rob, those are fine looking guns. I think I keep my 475L now. It does not seem to kick anymore than my Bisley 45 with heavy loads.
