Loaded up some Cast Performance 410 grain WFNGC bullets in Starline brass, using 21, 21.5, and 22 grains of H-110. The upper left group is 5 shots with the 21 grain load. Average velocity was 1105 fps. The bottom right is the load with 22 grains. Average was 1158 fps, and extraction was a little sticky. Top right is with same bullet in Buffalo Bore factory ammo that I used for a comparison. Bottom left is factory 325 grain Hornady's. The Hornady brass worked in my Lee #5 shell holder for resizing, but would not go into my Lee #5 shell holder for my priming tool. Settled on the 21 grain load for bear this fall. I used CCI large pistol magnum primers in all loads.
This is from my SRH with a 43/4" barrel. She's a keeper

Very nice, Just picked up a 7.5" Barrel model in the dark finish recently. Got a set of dies now to find some projectiles and some H 110.

I have a Super Redhawk 480 with a 7.5 inch barrel.

My best load is also the 410gr Cast Performance WFNGC bullets with Starline brass and 21grs of H-110.
With Winchester Large Pistol primers.

That load is scary accurate.

Now you guys have stirred up my Rugeritis, that I had under control! After shooting Ty's .480 SRH last Oct. it has been on my list to get. Good shooting Rumrunner. :)

I've been getting good results with the 410gr Cast Performance bullet over Tight group, and also with their 375gr bullet. I'm loading both right now to around 1070fps, and happy with the results, although I'll probably start edging upwards some.

On the Hornady ammo, I get extraction problems with the 400gr XTP load, and that brass does not fit in the #5 shell holder, have to use a #16. Strangely, the 325gr XTP load DOES fit the #5 holder.

Mike, thanks for the heads up on the #16 shell holder. Unfortunately I dont have one but will get one. Mine is brass from the 325 grain. Worked fine in #5 when resizing but not the #5 for the hand primer. Weird.

I'd shoot for groups with that 21gr load at 100 yards and get the freezer ready for this season. Inside 40 yards you know your neck shot will all-but-prevent the need for tracking.

Nice shooting - you must have a good set of electronic muffs. Watch that flinch!

A piece of skateboard tape under the crane on the bottom of the frame will improve purchase on a bipod or even a V-topped walking stick, for hunting use. I used to have a telescoping stick with such a top for shooting from a tree stand - worked like a champ to steady sitting shots. Of course, practice that way... to be sure.

I just used a pair of regular muffs. With my 44 Redhawk I use plugs and muffs. 480 not that bad to me.

I shot those using an MTM pistol rest. For hunting I do use shooting stix. I have the Stoney Point Pole Cat and can use as mono, bipod, or tripod. In my treestands I use the mono with a snow boot on bottom so it wont go thru the mesh.

I will be loading up 125 rounds this week to start practicing with off stix. I will see how far I can keep them in a kill zone group out to 100 yards.

Really enjoying this gun, especially in it's new configuration :D :D :D

I loaded up 130 rounds when I was home. But between the NRA Annual Exhibits and shooting some other guns I haven't had a chance to shoot these yet. I get back home in 12 days and will start practicing. I got a #16 shell holder for my primer tool so should be able to load my Hornady brass now. Probably load it up with a load to plink with and keep the Starline for my hunting loads.
Probably try some 355 grain cast bullets in the Hornady brass.
