It's fun to think about winning a bunch of money. They say it ruins a lot of people. Personally, if I have the opportunity to win that much or not win that much I'd probably choose to win it. But, what would concern me is that what would you do with it??? I guess you could put it in the bank but somebody is going to try to hack it. You would have to worry about your family. I'm not sure I'd really like to win that much. But I am probably going to try. To be truthful I'd prefer to win a much smaller amount. Let somebody else ruin their life worrying.

I should have bought a ticket for Mega Millions $74Million with a cash pay out after taxes of about $28 or $29Million. I'd feel more comfortable with that. That's makes enough of a tempting mark for people the other would make you a target for a LOT of people.
If any of you guys do win---I just hope you remember your struggling friends.

A shooting buddy won $21 mil in the CA lottery in the mid-'80s. The way the payouts were structured then, he got a million and change each year, leaving him roughly $750,000 to spend after taxes.
Just on that amount he had "vultures" coming out of the woodwork for months: "lost" relatives, "old" friends, guys with all kinds of plans on how to use his money to "become rich." Changed his phone number (unlisted) once a week for eight weeks before he just quit answering it. After about three years, he said it would have been better had 20 people won a million each than one person have all that...
I guess it doesn't matter: he died a little over a year later of lung cancer. No amount of money would buy him another day. Gives me a reason to pause for thought every time one of the lotteries hits these big numbers... so whichever of you guys wins it, please use it wisely!

Rest assured there are teams of ticket buyers spending hundreds of thousands of dollars (and more) to box number sets for such a large return. I know one man in Phoenix who dumps 40-50K on lottery prizes that large.
Still, it is simple random mathematics, and 10,000 tickets only gives you 10,000 chances without changing the odds of having a winning ticket.
I'll spend a fiver... Imagine a working man suddenly being able to give away a quarter of a million bucks and not even feel it.

The more money you have the more alligators you have to feed. I'm content with what little I have and I don't care how big my neighbors house is. I don't play the lottery but if I ever did hit the lottery I'd give most of it away to charity.

Recently I've thought about this a lot, having more $ than I knew what to do with. I know what I'd do with it, I'd be a philanthropist. No one, I mean no one, would contact me asking for a piece of the pie. I'd change individual lives one at a time. I've tasted what it's like; I'd love to do that.
I'd leave some for my 3 kids, but I sure wouldn't make them rich. I'd also assure that my 4 granddaughters college education would be taken care of. Then I'd take care of people like a young girl with a disfiguring facial injury so she could feel pretty again. I'd give damn near all of it away...
