Sounds like a fun gun. Hard to believe it really costs that much to make.

I paid $75 for mine, 9mm of course. It's an interesting gun, but kind of complex. The recoil pulse is strange to say the least.

Hard to believe it's 100 years old this year, even harder to believe I've owned it 20. Time flies.

There was an article in a RCA journal years ago about a Ruger collector, as a child, who befriended a WWII vet that had brought a lot of "stuff" back with him from the war. The child was becoming of age and wanted a pistol. The vet showed him a few different pistols. If I remember correctly, he wanted a .45, the vet showed him a Gov't for like $10.00 and a .45 LUGER for $20.00.......any ways he passed on the Luger. Not really sure of the amounts and why he passed or what he eventually got. Maybe someone out there remembers the article? It would have been from the mid to late 80's RCA journals. Jack

I thought that the Luger in 45acp was made only in a few prototypes to compete for the contract as the U.S. Army pistol back in the early 1900's. I would assume that one of those originals would be worth millions now due to its rarity. As to the 9mm model used during WWII, the few people I have known that owned one of these have all said how generally unreliable this gun was, with frequent failures. Personally I have no interest in the gun for anything but historical value.
