Anyone use HS-6 for medium loads in the .454. Have lots of data for H-110 but only one load for HS-6. Have about 10 lbs of each powder on hand.

Have the Freedom Arms Load Data, Hornady, Hodgdons and Lee manuals and the Brian Pearce Handloader Article.

Have Cast Performance 300, 325 and 335.

Have had the new Super Blackhawk Bisley for a month now and have only fired 15 Ruger Only .45 Colt loads through it so far.

Any info appreciated.

You might want to call Cast Performance / Grizzly. They can give you load data that is spot-on. I called and talked to their ballistician several years ago when I was working up loads for my 41 mag and their 265 grain bullet. He was extremely knowledgeable and helpful.

HS-6 works well for 45colt...so it would probably do alright. And, the suggestion of calling someone, is never a bad thing.

10.0 grains of HS-6 behind a 340 grain cast bullet does right at 830 feet per second and 10.0 grains of HS-6 behind a 300 grain XTP did 796 fps. Those are the only two loads I chronographed using HS-6. I also use trimmed 460 brass with the Large pistol primer but that shouldn't effect velocity. Accuracy was only fair, doing approximately 1.5 inches at 25 yards rested - that's 5-shots.
