Hodgdon lists this caliber, but I can't seem to find any info on it or what it was chambered in.

Thanks Flatgate! I can't believe Hodgdon lists it and the only way I could make Google find the article was to search for 450 extreme singleaction. You have to specify singleaction as one word, otherwise it makes it 2 words and will not find it.

Would have been a good load for this one that I quit bidding on too soon.

Well I could have used the load data I think. IF the powder wasn't compressed. Would have still used cut down 454 cases(to Colt length) for stouter cases and to keep them out of the 6 shooters. Did you notice the rounded trigger guard on that Super frame?

Yes, I noticed the nice trigger guard!

FWIW, Linebaugh developed his 5 shot .45's with Federal's standard .45 Colt cal. brass. Using shortened .454 brass would reduced the case's capacity.

I believe the reasoning behind the .450 Ex. is to prevent chambering a "5 shot" .45 Colt load in a 6 shot cylinder. We both know somebody would try it........
