44 Specials....are special

I purchased a stainless Flattop 44 Special when they first became available. I have always liked this round and found the Blackhawk to be extremely accurate.

Just the other day, I received a S&W 624 no dash 44 Special, 3". Yesterday, WAYNO and I put it through it's paces. Initially, I was disappointed at the accuracy. WAYNO shot it just fine, so it had to be me.

After some more shooting, I got better. At about 20 yds, I was able to hit the bowling pins 6 for 6. I am definitely going to enjoy this pair. :D

Gotta love the 44 Special! :wink:

Those are sweet! I have always wanted a Smith 624! I got to fondle the stainless .44 Blackhawk yesterday. I wanted it bad, but $529 I don't have right now!

Dave, those are nice! I also have a Smith 624 (no dash) but haven't shot it - it is LNIB and just can't bring myself to shoot it yet. My Blackhawk 44 spl and FA 97 in 44 spl meet my needs in what I agree is a very special cartridge offering!

I used to have a Charter Arms (Bulldog?) in .44 special. I always thought it was a seriously under-rated cartridge. For me, it's the biggest round I'm comfortable with.

I definitely liked it better than .357 Mag, and the Special's big brother, the .44 Magnum. I've only ever fired two cylinders full of that, and it was enough.

The .44 Special should be the respected revolver round, like .45ACP is for pistols.
