difference in 41 om cylinder and sbh cylinder .length ,ratchet and such. i know besides caliber

They're both Ruger large frame cylinders so they should measure within thousands of an inch of each other. Ratchet is the same. Thinking about doing some tinkering? I'm in the market for a 41 cylinder...

Funny, I just tried installing my stainless Bisley SBHH cylinder into my new blued SBH, just to see what the two-tone would look like. They won't even go together without some force, and I'm not going to force it just to see what it looks like. Funny thing, the blued cylinder doesn't want to just "drop in" to the stainless frame either, so there's more to it than mere length.

Didn't like the look, anyway. As my wife said, it looked like a car that had a fender replaced and needed painting. :D

There is also gas ring length and ratchet length that matter along with OAL. The barrel stub protrudes farther in some calibers to prevent someone from say dropping a 44 cylinder into a 357 frame and firing it.

True, fitting one is no small undertaking. It can be done though, with hand tools even.
