THAT is the answer.
In my time in a dynamometer lad we had an engine (302, 4 bolt main, race built) that ran a cyclic test. Idle to 6500 rpm, twice a minute. 24 hrs a day 7 days a week for 14 months. It would get shut down once every eight hours for an oil level check and then right back on test. Oil was changed every 72 hrs. At it's 2000 hour rebuild it looked band new inside. Due to the frequent oil changes we were able to stretch out its rebuild to 4000 hours. Good deal on a $9000 rebuild. (we had four of these engines)
