I'm considering trading for a 4 inch Redhawk in 45 Colt. Anything I should be aware of on this pistol? Trade Value?? It's not new, been carried a lot, shot little. Any help would be appreciated.

You should be aware that it's a great handgun. Very durable and will handle virtually anything you run across given the proper loading. They sell for approx $800 new. Trade value is probably slightly less, but the bottom line is they are pretty difficult to run across so supply becomes a factor in the value.

Great choice - find one, buy it, and enjoy it. I have a 5-1/2" Redhawk in 41 mag and love it. Good luck.

I am tempted to make the trade but it's for my M77 in 257 Roberts and I already have a BH in 41 mag. I like the fact it's 4 inch and DA. I had a Security Six in 357 mag and really liked it.

I have a BH in 41 mag also, I like the double-action RH much better. However, I would find a way to keep the 257, too; that's one of my favorite classic calibers - perfect for deer and antelope.

GET IT!!!!!!!
Years ago my wife held one and she said "I like this one". I'm the dumbest man in the world for not buying that gun then NIB at Kittery Trading post for about $600

If you reload it's a great revolver. If you don't it's a boat anchor. :D

And why pray tell is that? I think you are as ignorant about calibers as you are about politics. I haven't reloaded in years and the 45 Colt is a great caliber. Even better if you reload. I shoot a lot of Buffalo Bore ammo and it will handle virtually anything. Lots of ammo out for 45 Colt that I have seen recently, including Blazer, Federal, and Remington. Silvertips, hollow points, semijacketed solid point. I can't think of anything you can't handle with standard manufactured 45 colt loads.

why would I want to spend money to make this into a 45 ACP? I have a Ruger SR1911, a colt 1911 and a Springfield 1911.

4 inch redhawk in 45 colt are very very very hard to get right now. they are great weapons. they will handle any and all 45 colt loads from mild to stout. Absorb recoil with the best of them and are super accurate.

I went the way of moon clips for several reasons:

I like the idea of quicker reloads and if I don't have any 45 colts available then I can shoot the 45 acp just as accurately with no ill effects to the revolver. It is like shoot 38's out of the 357.

If you don't have the desire to shoot 45 acp then no fuss no muss.

personally I like the added versatility .

I think this gun will just keep climbing in price as ruger is not producing large batches of these.

I picked mine up almost new in the box. I did polish the trigger internals as it was dry and gritting....actually horrible. Afterwards, I dropped in a lighter trigger spring , clean and lubed it. I took it to the range and fell in Awe!!!!!

this along with my security six's will never leave my safe.....unless I have a duplicate.

you won't be sorry.

I delayed buying one on a good deal and went back the next day to buy it and it was gone! I wouldn't make that mistake again.

It's way overbuilt for the 45colt. That's why you can shoot 'Ruger Only' 45colt loads in it. If all you want to do is shoot 45colts there are other guns that are much lighter. Lets not resort to insults here.

I remember when a member here on the forum got one of the first 45colt 4" Redhawks by mistake. It came in a box marked 44mag. Everybody said keep it and he did. Now of course they are fairly common. :D
