Nice caliber, I have had 1 in my hands, a Savage 99e for several years, a lever action and could not get the full potential from the cartridge, so away it went. If I ever see a nice bolt gun, I would be hard pressed to not leave with it.
Nice bolt actions in 284 are far and few in between. I've had at least one M77 in 284 and a Model 88 Winchester. Browning has made a few Safari's and A-bolts in 284 and Winchester a very few M70's. I have 77 Hawkeye in 35/284 that I rechambered from a 358 Winchester. Before I'm cited for ruining a perfectly good 358, I had 2 M77's in 358 and only changed one. The 284 was a great idea at the wrong time and has been necked up and down with good results. In my 35/284, it's basically a 350 Rem Mag without the belt. The current 7mm SAUM accomplishes the same thing but will work well in a short action without having to seat the bullet too deeply. I'm glad to here that the 284 brass is back in stock. Bob!
