22LR - Revolver or semi automatic

Hello all,
I have a question that has been on my mind. Why are revolvers more expensive than a semi automatic? I realize the obvious answer is that the revolver frame is all metal but what other factors are involved in determining price?
Just curious, thank you for your input.
I am also looking to add another 22LR to my collection, I have the new mark IV in stainless but I am looking for opinions on another new 22 for target and plinking. Another semi automatic or maybe a revolver.
Any information that you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

I absolutely love my .22lr SP101, that being said the DA trigger pull on a .22 revolver is pretty stiff. Because of the geometry involved the trigger pull on the GP100 .22 has a lighter feel to it but I prefer my SP101 because of the size. If you're not really a revolver guy I would recommend at least handling them before buying one, keep in mind though that the trigger pull will improve with lubing and shooting.

For target the auto should be better because cyl and bbl are one piece. Other than that do you like apples or oranges?

I am not a fan of single action 22lr revolvers... the only explanation I can give is they are a total pain to load. Double actions with the cylinder swiveling out are a little better but still.. compared to removing an empty magazine and just inserting a full mag and letting the slide slam forward... since shooting 22lr is all about shooting ....

A 22lr semi-auto is actually a fairly simple piece of equipment. The most difficult part is designing a magazine and feeding cartridges from mag to chamber. Any revolver is more intricate and expensive to build. Rim fire vs center fire has little to do with the design-only with the size/strength/weight of the parts.

I wouldn't live without a single six. It is the favorite of my kids too. They have six .22 revolvers and 8 semi autos to choose from, and they all want the single six.

Nice thing about a .22 revolver is you can use up the ammo that doesn't work in your semiautos.
