Just went on the Ruger site. I noticed they have dumped the slab sides Wonder what that does to the value of my 4 1/2 one? Probably better not put any more shots thru it.. Only shot 2 rounds out of each mag to make sure it worked. Should have waited. I like the new one a lot. It'll go nice with the p22 and 22a..
 
Ruger adds and removes models, I wouldn't read much into it.

Also, it will be a good long time before MkIII's are collectible IMO.
 
I just purchased a MK3 Slabside, but have no plans of not shooting it. I plan on shooting it quite a bit and hopefully passing it down to one of my kids or future grandkids to enjoy. Use it for what it was meant to be enjoyed to do.

Mornin... Do any of you folks know about how many of the 4 1/2 slabs were produced? After reading about problems with fte/ftf I've put 3 of the 333 Winchester bulk boxes thru the sweetie. Not one hiccup.. So thats 1004 rounds. It's gonna be a keeper. Shoots better than I can. Don't care for the in and out of the mags though. May get the disconnect disconnected :-).. A bit warmer today here in Happy Valley... Have a good day.
 
My MK III 22/45 slabside is a relatively recent purchase as well. I didn't get it to be a collector item. I didn't get it to customize.

I got it to shoot.

And I have. Probably a thousand rounds thru it in three range sessions. I have had one failure to feed. One. And that was the first time out, gun was brand new and I hadn't cleaned it of the factory oil.

Am I pleased with this pistol? Damn right I am! It is accurate, reliable, and just a hoot to shoot. And if you just follow the directions and take your time, field stripping and reassembly are no big deal at all.

I'm not really concerned that Ruger has decided not to offer it anymore. Nature of the business beast to replace one model with a newer one. I may eventually get an SR22 pistol. I like its look a lot.

Maybe I'll just wait till I wear this one out.
