22/45 problem?

A while back I bought a 5 1/2" 22/45 upper complete with bolt and today I just received a 22/45 lower that I bought from a fellow on another forum. During assembly I am having trouble getting the the pin on the latch assembly to go all the way into position so I can close the latch with the bolt inserted. I can take the bolt out and it goes in all the way and latches. I can take the recoil spring assembly off the bolt and I can put the bolt back in the gun and the pin goes all the way into position and latches. I'm sure it's something simple that will make me blush but I've blushed before. So jump in if you can help please . Yes I point the gun upward and pull the trigger before inserting the bolt and yes I point the gun downward and over on it's back a little and pull the trigger before trying to insert the latch pin.

You may have to remove some material from the inside of the lug that hooks under the barrel. My FrankenRuger had the same issue.

After a few cleanings,the pin usually gets more easy to slide through. I will give you the procedure I use and maybe it will help.
After putting barrel and bolt back in gun. Insert your empty magazine and keep safety off. With barrel pointed downward pull trigger to get hammer to go forward. With barrel pointed down install main spring housing pin through hole. Then point gun barrel in upward position and get hammer strut in the slot in the main spring latch assembly. With finger on trigger , push in as far as it will go. Now release trigger and release the magazine and it should go in easy and latch. Hope you find something in my paragraph that helps.

Look though the ejection port and see that the recoil spring guide rod isn't being forced against the barrel face when you insert the bolt stop. If it is then on the inside of the butterfly flange is a bump you can carefully file some of the bump down to create more room for the bolt stop pin.

You hit it dead center on the bullseye, hee,hee,hee. I guess I just took for granite that the parts which came with the upper had been the ones used in it originally. Thank You Bullseye.
