Hello all.. This is my 1st post here.. I am having problems with my 22/45 mags... Long and short is that 1 of my two mags is not working any longer.. I had some grip work done.. Removable Hogue wrap around grips installed on my MK III ploy frame.. The mag in question takes a great of force to seat fully.. will not activate the bolt hold open and I have too literally PRY it out of the gun to remove it.. the other mag seems to work fine.. LRHO works..drops free when release is hit... The working mag is a MK III 22/45 mag as it has the little cut out near the top of the mag.. the non-working mag is a MK III mag as it does not have the cut out. It seems that the MK II mag is too thick and is blinding up on the LRGO lever.. I have but a caliber on both mags and it is in fact about .008 thicker then the MK III mag... But BOTH were working prior to any work done to it... All grip parts are seated correctly in their correct places... Yes.. I filed off the little nub on the trigger too... Any ideas?

It's possible that a grip screw on the new grips is causing the binding.
Loosen the screws on the new Hogues & see if that helps. If so, then you can install thin washers under the heads of the screws to fix it. (Hobby shops that sell stuff for model RC builders have such washers.)

definitely not the grip screws... There's a good 3/8th inch gap between the lowers ones and the mag.. the top ones are close but with mag installed there is an 1/8th inch on one side and maybe a 1/16th on the other. Its like the bolt hold open lever is too thick with one mag but not the other... the mag binds up and rubs on it... The hold open will not work with the MKII mag installed.. the mag spring is not strong enough to over come the friction from wedging the mag into the gun...

IIRC MKII mags are not compatible with a MKIII. The mags have
different Ruger part #'s.

Just a suggestion, but put the original grips back on and see if the problem goes away. If it does then you know what the problem is.
Well... As it turns out there is a ever so slight difference between the MKII 22/45 bolt stop and the newer MKIII 22/45 bolt stop... THe MKII has a slight bend in it and that was forcing it into the top of the mag. Replaced the bolt stop with a MKIII 22/45 bolt stop and the problem ended...

That doesn't make any sense if all you changed were the grip panels....
