22/45 First range trip

First trip to the range with my new 22/45 target pistol was mixed. When it fired, it was very accurate and comfortable to shoot. However, I had many FTL & FTE using Federal American Eagle ammo. At times, I could go through three to four magazines without a blip.

Any ideas? ..... By the way, I did a disassembly and clean prior to my range trip.

Try a different type of ammo. One of my Rugers eats many types of Federal ammo,, yet hates the American Eagle stuff. It also pukes on Remington bulk pack stuff,,, yet the Federal bulk stuff from wally world runs fine.

I agree with the other comments, try different ammo.

Shot my new Ruger Mark III Hunter last week for the first time. Ran 400 rounds of CCI MINI-MAGs and 200 rounds Federal Gold Medal. Not a single problem.

My 22/45 also likes MINI-Mags and I've had very good luck with Federal Bulk Packs. :lol:

Also I'll add ...
Shoot the crap outa the 22/45 ... like a car it will have a "break in" period, so it will smooth up the more you shoot.

I've been quite pleased with the Winchester 333 bulk packs, they are a little more money, but they have been very reliable and plenty accurate for deadly can hunting expeditions.

I agree with other posters, the pistol can be very finicky about ammo; mine seems to like the expensive stuff only :wink: doesn't care for plain lead bulk pack stuff of any variety.
