That pistol sure looks good to me. I am doing mine the same way but I don't have my Houge Grip yet. I have a Mueller Quick Shot on mine. Good luck with yours.. :)

WELL....evidently I have NO taste atall as I most assuredly prefer the before and NOT the after.
WHY would a man of your caliber replace that nice set of wood stocks with those condom grade "grips"??

Well, thanks for the comments. The grips may not be the best looking, but they are really nice in the hand. I have big hands and these fit me very well.
I will put the wood back on when I'm done playing. Ha, ha, ha. No the sight is on the right way. It's a ATN. American Technologies Network.
They make a lot of night vision stuff. This is a very good unit. Check them out.

Those grips give you a lot more control over the pistol if you are shooting plates or steel where you have to move fast. I have tried both and the rubber is way better for me. I agree it lacks in looks but it will make it up with speed. :)

LOL! Wil Terry. I got a kick out of "condom grips"! I really like wood and most of my guns wear them. This is just a project gun that I am having a little fun with. They do fill your hand rather nicely though. :D

I feel like I need to send Terry a check for all the entertainment I've gotten out of ten or twelve years of his posts!!!

pol,

I bought one NIB just like that last week. I went to a gun show looking for a basic 22/45 but ended up with the cocabolo gripped model. I think it's the best looking MK pistol Ruger has ever made, PERIOD.
The only mod I plan to do to mine is mount a Millett Red Dot on it. Well, I'd love to have it threaded and add a can to it too but if that ever happens it'll be down the road a ways. It should be here next week. How does your's shoot? I haven't even had a chance to shoot mine yet. But really figured there was no need to until my Dot gets here.
It's not exactly a 1911, but feels pretty good to me.

Thanks for all of the comments. Just having a little fun. I agree the wood grips look much better. But the Houge's feel right! Had a chance to zero the sight a couple of days ago. I'm very pleased.

Very impressive Samuel. What distance/distances were they shot from?

My 1911 had a set of those finger groove grips on it when I got it. That extra material wrapped around the front of the grip frame made it just a little large for my hands so I replaced them with a set of rubber Hogue panels w/ palm swells in them. Like you say "they don't look as good as wood but they do fill the hand well".

Congrats on the sweet piece,
C.S.
