Looking back to last year, we were already talking about the 2016 Number One releases for a week or more but we have yet to see any movement for the current year, and I check their website daily at this point. I have my fingers crossed---sure hope we see a continuation of this beautiful rifle, and considering the new $1829 MSRP, better wood overall.

At the going rate of MSRP increases, it will not be too long until the factory new N0 1 will be more expensive than a decent custom No 1 that will have all of the bugs of the factory new version worked out! Made to your specs to boot, with hand picked wood.

I'm wondering what, if anything, :roll: :roll: is going to be offered as the 50th year gun.
Some of the 50 year stuff has been spot on (357/44 flattop) others not so much (Single Six)
I would hope, with the No.1 being one of the best premium guns that has been in the line up, the 50th would be something with some special wood. :idea:
I think the 44 MAG would have been a great choice, where it was one of the very first long guns offered back in the day, and a caliber never offered in the No.1 until the 2016 offerings. While I really like my No.1 44M, the wood was from a left over pallet from the shipping dumpster. :shock:

I know I'm one of those just really isn't interested in having fancy, flashy wood. If I'm buying one, it's more than likely to be used so why mar up a Rolls Royce when a Ford will get the same thing accomplished? If I wanted the super grad stuff, I'd go that route to begin with.
For the price of a new Number One, I expect good wood, period. And yes, I'll take mine to the field with nice lumber on it, but there probably aren't many of you fussier than me about how my rifles are handled---at home or while I'm hunting with them(ok, there might be some of you!:) ). If I wanted plain wood I could have paid significantly less for something else.

According to Jason, Lipsey's has given up their exclusivity for the No.1's in 2017, hence the 450BM model release...

Ruger made a big mistake IMO in 2016 run for not making as many rifles as an exclusive distributer must buy. Lipseys role to sell them. Many nice choices for 2016

I'm not into any of the "other" calibers other than the 7.62x39, .223/5,56, 45-70 and 30-06. I'm looking for another "common" caliber but haven't settled on one as yet. If Ruger does come out with a decent #1 Anniversary model, I hope it will be along those lines. I love my latest acquisition; 30-06, got the longer barreled version and love it.
Was in a local gun store today, shock and surprise. They had 3 or 4 No. 1's from an individual collection. Someone was parting with his "newer" No.1's. I remember a 30-30, 257 Roberts, and one in 303 British. ( and one other odd caliber I think ) All of them had older Leupold's on them. I picked up a new 7mm-08 they had on sale for $899.
I think it was $1,300. All three of these looked like safe queens, couldn't tell they weren't new.
Came with a Leupold scope, but don't remember exactly which model.
If it sits for a while, usually takes a couple of months, it will come down.
