Any word from Lipsey's or Ruger on this year's models and cartridges.

Anxiously waiting news from the SHOT Show.

Just curious.... Pressonregardless, are you from the UP? Not many folks are familiar with the Press On Regardless (POR) rally.

No Sir, never had a chance to make the rally or visit your fine state, but that is where I picked up the handle many years ago.

Still trying to get my hands on a .257 Weatherby from last year.

I imagine you'll hear something after SHOT. Everything is so hush hush till then.

I sure hope so... Jason C has been 'hush hush' for a while. Last year he was on RF frequently with hints and updates... nothing now.

From what I've seen he has been hush hush since the...lets say...not so warm response to the 2015 runs. Lots of disappointment from a lot of people and not one word from lipseys. Zero! All the hype on upgraded stocks and very few were any better than the plain jane wood ruger has been crankjng out for years now and add in a premium price for something that really wasnt delivered. Kinda puts a bad taste in ones mouth and I for one could care less about whats new for 2016 with the way they handled things in 2015. I guarantee Im not the only one.

I have to agree, the fit and finish of the few 2015 No.1's I have handled have not been up to what Lipsey's thought Ruger would provide them, I do not know if Lipsey's isn't as upset about quality as we are! For the price point that the No.1 rifles have reached...the wood quality needs to be much better...the end of the No.1 may be near....perhaps here already, sadly....I hope I am wrong.

BINGO! I am not even considering one of their new offerings. Could care less.... Other than the plain wood, FIT AND FINISH of 2015 offerings just plain SUCK...

Beware future buyers.....DON'T order on line without seeing the finished product with your own eyes. BUYERS BEWARE! I am a 2015 victim, but not again.

+5 to what Dave said.

The one 2015 version I handled a lot was the non-cataloged 7.62x39 wasn't that bad, wood not what most folks would like, but no fence post either. Fit and finish were nice as far as I could tell. I saw a few new versions at Cabelas that likely may be 2015 runs that were quite plain, they had one RSI 30/06 on their website that had really nice wood, but of course was gone by the time I got to the store which is < 5 miles away.

Fancy wood isn't a biggie for me. I'm fine with something I wouldn't get all upset about if it got a blemish. If I want fancy, I'll go aftermarket and choose my wood. For me, chambering are what matters. It's gotta be something interesting (different).

Was hoping they would make No.1 long enough to do another run of .404 Jeffery. Have tried to get one for years but they keep getting bought out from under me. Must not have made too many. Probably not a popular cartridge. I love it. Great for handloading.

I would not count on another run of the 404 Jeffery at all. You better latch on to one when you can find one. I think they will be upward of $2000, as new in the box with decent wood. PM me and I can tell you where there was one for sale.

I think it will be after NRA before the 2016 Lineup is announced.

I would say you are correct.
I looked at all of the Shot Show info on Gunblast last night & saw where Jeff visited the Lipsey Booth and talked to Jason. Jason showed off a very nice Springfield 1911 style 9mm, no Rugers even came up. It could be that the 2016's may be a mid year intro so they can get the delayed 2015's out and that's not all bad. I have my .257 Wea. but it would be a shame if others who want one just as bad never get the chance. So, if it winds up being mid year to mid year now, doesn't really matter much, long as it happens. Whenever it does, I am looking forward to seeing what they offer.

I made an order this morning from Lipsey's for a couple of handguns. I asked my salesman about the #1's for 2016 and was advised that the NRA Convention date would be close to the announcement of calibers for the #1's as it was explained to him. Bob!!

I'm sure I read somewhere that they are discontinuing the No. 1. Low demand. I've loved, for years, the look and the feel of a #1, but I've been put off by too many reports of spotty accuracy. If the right deal were to happen along, I might still buy one just to hang on the wall. I think they're that good looking.

Most of the poor accuracy stories concern the older Red Pad models, with cheap barrels they bought. The newer ones not always but often shoot good and I am not saying all the red pad ones were bad, some shot good. I have a new .257 Wea. that shoots 1/2" groups often and a .264 that does almost as well. Does that sound like rifles you just need to look at?

Also, who is the source that says the Number 1 is done, sorry I rather doubt it.

All you guys out there thirsting for the next #1, PLEASE look before you leap. Touch it and go over it with a fine tooth comb. AVOID DISAPPOINTMENTS!!! Been there......

Dave

That would be wise, I ordered mine but got lucky

News I received today is they're to continue the 2015 offerings as they have outstanding orders to fulfill yet hope to be announcing the next chambering at the NRA show.

I heard today when I was up in Newport, unofficially of course, from some folks who are involved that No.1 production is pretty much finished...that is the speculation based on observations, comments and putting the pieces together...I hope I am wrong but I wouldn't be surprised. It seems that Ruger is interested in volume not craftsmanship...thus the Gold label, Red label and the No.1 require too much skilled labor and they cannot be mass produced. Folks expect quality at their price points...The Old Man understood the value of providing both value products and high craftsmanship products to his customers...innately. He was more ego driven than bottom line driven....

That would explain why we haven't heard a thing from Jason C. of Lipsey's on the subject in quite a while.
