I agree tho not entirely. The use of ball powders in the big revolvers makes a great sandblasting machine. I ate up one SBH using using WW296 and 255 cast in the mid 70's and saw many more from shooting buds that had done the same thing. I am saying the Supers took beating but there were many more Model 57 SW and Model 29 SW's that got it worse. Experimenting is fun, but, expensive. Chief aka Max Loadflatgate":7rrlqp8k said:

Hmm, I use BALL POWDERS almost exclusively in .32 mag., .44 mag., .45 Colt and .454 Casull. I've only seen throat erosion on the .454 after many thousands of rounds. Ah, but I shoot heavy for calibre cast bullets.....

May have something to do with the quantity also, we did shoot a lot. Since I ruined the one Super I started using 2400 and have seen no problems since.
I don't get the opportunities to shoot that many 44's anymore. If you don't shoot 150-300 rounds a week as we did in the start of the "Metallic Silhouettes" game you may not ever have a problem. Remember now, the Maxi was targeted to that same crowd, you know, the ones that shot maximum loads and shot a lot of em'. I must say, WW296 and H110 really came to popularity because of these folks... Chief aka Maxx Load
